Leah Leis
Leah Leis was born in Florida, but was moved with her family to Alaska by the Air Force when she was a toddler. To get through the long winters, her Mother and she would involve themselves in a variety of arts and crafts. Leah's Mom didn't waste any time teaching Leah how to sew and do quilting at the age of five. Not long after that, Leah taught herself how to bead daisy chains, cabochons, and name bracelets on a loom. She eventually was able to assist her Mother when her Mother taught quilting classes through the Community Schools. Leah and her Mom share a passion for creating and continue to sew and embroider together.
In 1997, Leah graduated from Chugiak High School and went on to attend UAA for three years. She joined Alaska Bead Company in March of 2004 and has taken several of their beading and wire working classes since then. Leah loves seed beads but has been bitten by the wire working bug lately. Leah started teaching in the fall of 2005 and continues to build her beading knowledge in order to expand her classes.
