Dawn Safarik
Dawn is a "native Alaskan", having been born and raised in Alaska. She currently lives in Big Lake with her husband and two children. Always a creative person, she was an artist from her younger years (around age 10). Her artwork has won many awards, both in local communities and State Fairs and most notably, she has had her work displayed at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. Her pieces are also featured in many private collections around the world.
A beader since 1995, Dawn is mostly self-taught, using books and information on-line, although she has taken a few classes. She likes to try new things and is always eager to learn. While she also works with sterling silver jump rings, gemstones, and other types of beading, her main focus is on beaded florals. She has been part of two bead societies in the Valley. She has taught classes in both art and beading. She loves to show others how to make jewelry and beaded flowers, and reflects, "It's great when that light comes on, and they get it!"
Dawn has a business and sells her work mostly at local shows and through word of mouth. She is always willing to try special requests from customers, but mostly she just likes to create!
