Beth Blankenship
After being out of state for a few years, Beth Blankenship is back in Anchorage and teaching at Alaska Bead Company. She is a former award-winning graphic artist who jumped into beading with both feet back in 1999. Her first project, a beaded carry-on suitcase, was a fourteen-month labor of love! Since then, her work has regularly popped up in publications and exhibitions in Alaska and the Lower 48, including: The Dairy Barn's Bead International, Bead & Button Magazine's Bead Dreams, the Anchorage Museum's Earth, Fire and Fibre show, and Lark Book's 500 Beaded Objects.
Beth's absolutely favorite stitch is 2-needle couching because, she says, "it's so flexible it's like drawing with beads." Her greatest joy in teaching is helping her students explore the artistic possibilities beading has to offer.
